The Trip

‘We would all stay in Marriott’.
‘Its sheer extravagancy,’ the old man never stayed in luxury hotels; not that he could not afford. He just disliked profligacy.
‘Dad, I appreciate your feelings but you have to think of the kids. They are eagerly looking forward to the occasion. Now don’t be a spoilsport.’
The old man smiled; he had always been accommodating even when it hurt his feelings. How he wished his wife had been with him.
He thought he would walk around the village before starting on what he felt could be his last trip to the maddening crowd.
