Call of the home

                                                                                    Photo prompt-© Dawn Q Landau

He had walked for seven days and yet had not reached his home.

He had used all his cunning to escape from the gang who had stolen him. He was not the only dog in captivity. But he was the only one who wanted to escape.

His first attempt failed. They clubbed him till he became unconscious. But that did not deter him. He fought back; he chose to rely on cunning and not strength.
**

He was losing hope; then he saw her. He just wanted to run and touch her.
**

He kept trudging; he was too tired to run.

  1. I hope she notices him. A sad tale that could just have a happy ending.

  2. As in the case of the dog, if physical prowess is to be the decisive factor in our struggle for survival, not many of us stand a chance to be alive.
Fortunately for us, we can thrive by prudence and intelligence, rather than raw physical strength in the societal system we humans generally follow.

  8. Yeh, she'll see him. She'll sense him first. I insist on a happy ending to this. I like this: "But he was the only one who wanted to escape." It speaks for some humans, too. :)

  10. A moving story in which the tenacity of the dog really endears him to us. After all he's been through I really hope he manages to befriend the girl. He seriously needs someone he can trust. Nicely written. Millie Thom
